Jonah van Beijnen

Chief Executive Officer

MSc student in Tropical Biology at the Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Netherlands, and extensively experienced in the breeding protocols of crayfish, crabs, shrimps and many other aquatic creatures. Jonah is the CEO of South Sea Exclusive and responsible for our Research and Development as well. Jonah has extensive experience in working and conducting research in tropical countries, including nearly five years in Southeast Asia (Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, Burma, Thailand and Japan) and conducted numerous research trips to other tropical regions.

Bouke Batema

Chief Marketing Officer

MSc degree in Nature Conservation from the Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Netherlands, with a specialization in Ecology and Management. In his capacity as the CMO of South Sea Exclusive, Bouke is responsible for marketing, product distribution, sales, customer relationship and public relations. Bouke has relevant experience in customer acquisition from being a board member in student organizations. He has extensive experience with living and working in various remote regions around the globe, including the Philippines, Japan, China, New Zealand and Canada.

Joseph Milfred Arcenal

Head of Research and Development

MSc degree in Biology from De La Salle University, Manila, the Philippines. Joseph is Head of our Research and Development Department and is responsible for the further development of our hatchery and nursery protocols. As an experienced spiny lobster cultivator, he is managing our research laboratory and production facilities.

Kyra Hoevenaars

Executive Director

MSc degree in Biology from the Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Netherlands. Kyra is the Executive Director of the South Sea Exclusive Foundation and is responsible for administrative work planning, organizing, directing fund-raising activities and obtaining support from the local community, private foundations and other sources to the foundation. She gained extensive experience from working, travelling and conducting research in several projects in Southeast Asia, Africa and South America.

Sander ter Meulen

Program Manager

MSc degree in Environmental Science from the Wageningen University and Research Centre, the Netherlands and MSc degree in Biology from the University of Alicante, Spain. Sander is the Program Manager of the South Sea Exclusive Foundation and is responsible for managing the resources of large projects and ensuring a project is completed within a certain set of restraints (time, money, people and materials). Sander has gained experience in sustainable production and international development during his stay in South America. Furthermore, the diverse travelling experiences all over the world have provided him a sound cultural background.
